It’s time for another adventure outside of New Jersey! Let’s take a trip to Cabela’s Outfitter in Pennsylvania! Quit rolling your eyes if you care. Believe me, I’m about as far from being an outdoorsman as one can go. Please don’t misunderstand; I adore the outdoors.
Getting out in nature and exploring new state parks is something I really like doing. Plants, trees, and wildlife are some of my favorite things in the world. Neither camping nor hunting are activities that interest me. Nonetheless, Cabela’s is a really neat store on cabelas black Friday. Really, I mean it!
THE CABELA’S NAME DOESN’T RING A BELL.
Cabela’s is a large sporting goods, hunting, fishing, and outdoor goods retailer with a convenient location off of Route 78 in Cabela’s Hamburg, Pennsylvania (among other places). The answers are right here). They have everything you might possibly need for your next camping trip, fishing expedition, or day hike.
However, it’s more than simply a shop. With everything there is to see and do, you could easily spend an entire day there.
The Cabela’s sculpture is fantastic. My photograph doesn’t do it justice.
CABELA’S ACTIVITIES
Cabela’s offers more than shopping. Restaurant inside (they offer a variety of hot and cold dishes, sandwiches, soups, and unusual deli meats- like boar). Shooting gallery (not with real guns- these are the kind that shoot with laser, like they have in Cabela’s Hamburg and Disney World, the old saloon style). You put a penny in and aim your light to move the display characters. I’m terrible.
When you first go inside the facility, you’ll see a huge taxidermy exhibit (and if that kind of thing gives you the creeps, maybe Cabela’s isn’t for you). The animals are artfully arranged on a massive in-store “mountain.” Truly, it is a sight to see.
Learn more about the creatures on show by taking a stroll through the whole exhibit. This moose is just one of several that can be seen around the shop.
You don’t have to walk inside the deer hall or the wild animal hall if you don’t want to see the animals displayed like this, but you can’t really get away from the animal mountain in the center of the shop.
Inside, you’ll find a confectionery store selling treats like handcrafted fudge. Cabela’s Hamburg has bags of flavored licorice and other retro candies, and I usually buy a few extra to bring home.
RETAILERS BASS PRO SHOPS AND CABELA’S ARE LOOKING FOR SEASONAL EMPLOYEES IN HARRISBURG AND HAMBURG.
The Harrisburg Bass Pro Shop and the Cabela’s Hamburg are holding job fairs today, October 12, and tomorrow, October 13, respectively.
The shops are looking for someone to work both permanently and temporarily for the forthcoming Christmas shopping season.
Candidates have the option of applying in advance or attending the recruiting events, which will take place between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Both organizations offer their workers up to 50 percent off discounts on products, in addition to health insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay.
NEW CONNECTICUT CABELA’S A TOURIST DRAW
The East Hartford, Connecticut, Associated Press reports. Several years ago, on the way back from a trip to Virginia, Mark Guimond and Leslie Coppola stopped at a Cabela’s Hamburg in eastern Pennsylvania. They spent the nights in their Winnebago while out shopping.
Now that they have a property in New Britain, Connecticut, Coppola and Guimond can enjoy shorter vacations closer to home. As with its other 22 locations, the East Hartford Cabela’s shop is being promoted as a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts. The store officially opened on October 19.
“We took a few of vacation days to be here,” Coppola remarked the day before the business opened. “To put it simply, it’s unbelievable. It’s mind-blowing in the extreme.”
COASTAL FISHING
Boldrick added that Cabela’s chose the East Hartford location because the company has a large client base in the region via its catalogues (it sends 120 million catalogues annually) and because of its proximity to the coastal fishing areas of southern New England. The new shop is conveniently located near Rentschler Field, the University of Connecticut’s football stadium, where as many as 40,000 spectators may be present on any given Saturday afternoon.
According to Derek W. Leckow, an analyst at Barrington Research in Chicago, the destination-retail industry is growing in popularity.
